Welcome to TechBirmingham. We are a not-for-profit entity focused on growing the technology economy in our immediate region. We were formed by the Birmingham, Alabama community’s leadership in 2002 to lead, support, and coordinate the start-up, attraction, growth, retention, and expansion of technology-based businesses, investments, and jobs.

This website was developed to provide its visitors with a front-door to our technology community and to give everyone an opportunity to learn more about TechBirmingham’s many initiatives.

Association of Business Process Management Professionals.

The local chapter of the ABPMP will be meeting July 16th, 6:00 p.m., at host CGI, 1855 Data Drive, Suite 200, Hoover, AL 35244.  Richard Wallace, Managing Director, and Founder of Organizational Success Management will share his experience and knowledge with a presentation on “Business Process Management from a CIO’s Perspective.” The meeting cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. If you are not a current member of the Birmingham Chapter and choose to join, the meeting fee will be waived for chapter meeting at which you sign up.  Send an RSVP to abpmp.bhm@gmail.com with RSVP-July in the subject line.

NanoInk offers NanoProfessor to Birmingham’s two and four year colleges.

Last week Mayor Larry Langford invited several administrators and educators from the region’s two and four year colleges to attend a presentation by NanoInk.   NanoInk, Inc. is an emerging growth technology company specializing in nanometer-scale manufacturing and applications development for the life science and semiconductor industries.   NanoProfessor is service available to educators that combines nanotechnology curriculum with hands on equipment provided by NanoInk.  Universities and Colleges can use the service to establish two year and/or four year programs.  The Mayor and his staff were very excited about the opportunities this could provide our region’s students as well as the positive affect on the region’s industry.

Former TechBirmingham Chairperson Starts a New Company

Jennifer Skjellum, 2008 TechBirmingham Chair and recent Top 40 under 40 award recipient, has started another company.  RunTime Computing Solutions, LLC, was formed in March of this year. RunTime Computing Solutions, LLC is headquartered in the Innovation Depot.  Skjellum says “Right now we are focused on building a solid foundation , supporting a small but loyal customer base, and working on new sources of revenue.”
